Energize Bridgewater Director, Jessica McDonald was recently interviewed by Professor Peter Carr for a course titled Impact of Information Systems on Society at the University of Waterloo.

Bridgewater saw the opportunity to engage community members in the energy transition by allowing them to become investors in sustainable energy projects. This would not only unlock additional capital, but contribute to community economic development and community support for the projects.

After months of public consultation and planning with partner organizations, Energize Bridgewater is excited to officially launch its much-anticipated Home Upgrades program on December 1, 2022.

We’re looking for 1 resident and 2 stakeholder businesses or organizations to provide ongoing advice on the Energize Bridgewater program. Apply by December 7th, 2022 to join our committee!

“Right now, homelessness is happening to people who never thought they’d experience it,” explains Ryan. “People coming onto our lists have mixed backgrounds and incomes. Some of them are people who are working professionals, who would have been able to have no problem renting two years ago. We really are in a serious situation. It’s a crisis.”

The Town of Bridgewater, through the Energize Bridgewater project, and the South Shore Open Doors Association are collaborating to organize the National Housing Day event.

Like so many of us on the south shore, Bridgewater homeowner Tom looked ahead to this winter with concern. As the fall and winter temperature inevitably dips, heating costs are rising. With the funding made available through the Town of Bridgewater’s Clean Energy Financing program, Tom brought in contractors to complete energy upgrades.

Our partners from McGill University will be arriving in late April to conduct a survey about energy costs for Bridgewater residents, and we want to hear from you!
