Each year, National Housing Day is held on November 22nd. It’s a day to recognize the important work done by housing partners across Canada to improve access to housing for everyone.

You are warmly welcomed to attend an event to mark National Housing Day on Tuesday, November 22nd from 5:30pm to 8pm at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre (135 North Park Street, Bridgewater). We will have live music provided by Jarvis Mushka and guest speakers throughout the event. There will be light refreshments provided.

The Town of Bridgewater, through the Energize Bridgewater project, Efficiency Nova Scotia and the South Shore Open Doors Association are collaborating to organize the National Housing Day event. In Bridgewater we know that we have a lot of work to do to support the 38% of residents who are struggling to heat and power their homes, and the 59 households who are currently experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. We want to bring the public together to learn and share solutions to energy poverty and homelessness in our community. The Town of Bridgewater and Efficiency Nova Scotia will be sharing what we are doing to enable more affordable housing options in the Town, and the South Shore Open Doors Association will be sharing stories and facts about homelessness in Lunenburg County.

We know that energy poverty and homelessness are issues that are bigger than our Town can tackle alone, and that’s why we welcome your presence at the event to collectively work towards building a Lunenburg County where all residents have the supports they need to meet their needs. The event is free and open to the public.
