Join the Energize Bridgewater Advisory Committee

Invitation to Serve – Energize Bridgewater Advisory Committee (EBAC)  

We are looking for 1 resident and 1 stakeholder organization to give your ongoing advice on the Energize Bridgewater program. Our focus is on reducing home energy costs for Bridgewater residents. As a committee member, you will provide guidance on how best to reduce energy poverty in the community while shifting to a clean energy economy. We are a winner of the national Smart Cities Challenge, and the program is funded in part by the Government of Canada.  

Vacancies:  

(1) Resident – priority will be given to residents of Bridgewater who self-identify as: youth (under 25 years of age), senior (65 years of age or over), members of equity-deserving groups, and those who have a lived experience of energy poverty.  

(1) Social service organizations – serving equity-deserving or low-income residents of Bridgewater

About the Energize Bridgewater Advisory Committee  

What is Energize Bridgewater?  

Energize Bridgewater is a community-wide initiative transitioning Bridgewater to a clean and affordable energy economy.   

What the Committee will do  

This Committee will provide oversight for the Energize Bridgewater program. This includes championing and advising the Town on energy sustainability, affordability, and accessibility. Committee members will play a key role in advising the Town on its Energy Poverty Reduction Program and promoting the engagement of stakeholders and residents.   

How often does the Committee meet?  

The Committee will meet once every two months.   

Who can sit on the Committee?  

This Committee will include a diverse range of voices to make sure the needs of all Bridgewater’s residents are met by the Energize Bridgewater program. The Committee will be made up of residents impacted by energy poverty, and representatives from the social services, energy, transportation, financial, and housing sectors.  

Why is this Committee important?  

Bridgewater is on a path to make energy affordable, accessible, and sustainable for all residents. We need people on this Committee who want to share their voice on how Bridgewater can achieve this future. This is a community-led initiative and Committee members will have a direct role in shaping several of Bridgewater’s projects.   

Compensation

The Town of Bridgewater can offer payment of $20 per hour to residents who serve on this particular committee. You can earn this payment while working on committee tasks such as attending meetings and reading documents. The Town also helps by paying for child and dependent care and helping with transportation costs. We hope these payments help make it easier for residents to take part, and to share their valuable perspectives and experiences.
