First-time Homeowners Find Support Through Clean Energy Financing
As a homeowner, you’re often faced with unexpected costs, maintenance, and big decisions about your home. Investing in upgrades to make your home more energy efficient may sound like a luxury when you have bills piling up and other priorities.
Energize Bridgewater exists to help Bridgewater residents reduce their home energy costs. We know 2 out of 5 residents struggle to pay their energy bills. Part of the solution is making homes more energy efficient. One part of Energize Bridgewater is the Clean Energy Financing program. We offer a 1% interest rate, repayable over 15 years, for energy-efficient home upgrades in our Town. Through Clean Energy Financing, completing energy upgrades to your home is no longer a luxury, it’s a real possibility for your household.
We asked local homeowner, Erin Madden, how the Clean Energy Financing program helped their household. Erin said:
Not only does Clean Energy Financing provide the funds to do your energy upgrades, we also offer expert advice every step of the way. A trained Energy Advisor will come to your home to find ways to make your home more efficient. The Energy Advisor looks at your insulation levels, heating system, and the drafts in your home. Then they recommend upgrades that can help you save on energy costs.
The next step is for you to get quotes for the upgrades you want to do. Program staff will help you assess your quotes so you feel confident moving forward with the right contracting company for your project.
Program participants see real cost savings on their home heating and electricity bills. On average, households that complete the Clean Energy Financing program save $850 per year, after the cost of repaying their financing each month. What would you do with an extra $850 at the end of the year?
